Frequently Asked Questions

At TowTally Camping, we believe buying an RV or trailer should be straightforward. No games, no pressure, and no surprise fees. Below are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.

No PDI Fees • No Hidden Fees • No Pressure • Real Pricing

Buying an RV or Trailer

Do you charge PDI or dealer prep fees?

No. TowTally Camping does not charge PDI, dealer preparation, or similar add-on fees just to increase the advertised price.

Our goal is simple: No PDI Fees. No Hidden Fees. No Pressure. Real Pricing.

Read more about our pricing →

Is the advertised price the actual selling price?

Yes. Our advertised sale price is the actual selling price of the RV or trailer before applicable taxes, registration, government charges, and disclosed transaction fees.

Freight or transportation charges may apply to certain trailer products and will be disclosed when applicable. Optional products and accessories are never required unless they are specifically included in the sale.

We do not advertise unrealistically low prices and then surprise customers with thousands of dollars in mandatory dealer add-ons.

What additional fees should I expect?

Depending on the transaction, charges may include:

  • Applicable sales or use tax
  • DMV, registration, and title fees
  • California documentation processing fee: $85
  • Electronic filing fee: $33
  • Applicable California tire fees
  • Freight or transportation when applicable

Optional accessories, protection products, extended service contracts, upgraded batteries, hitches, and other equipment are only added when you choose to purchase them.

We do not charge PDI or dealer preparation fees.

Do you take deposits to hold an RV or trailer?

Yes. In many cases, we can accept a deposit to secure an in-stock unit or custom-order trailer.

Deposit requirements vary depending on the unit and whether it is an in-stock purchase or a special order. Your salesperson will explain the deposit terms before you commit.

Can I purchase without coming into the dealership?

Yes. We regularly work with customers outside the Redding and Anderson area.

Much of the purchase process can be completed remotely using phone, text, email, and electronic documents.

We can also discuss available delivery arrangements depending on your location and the unit being purchased.

Can I buy from TowTally if I live outside California?

Absolutely. We sell RVs and trailers to customers throughout California and other states.

Taxes, registration, transportation, and documentation requirements vary by state. Our team will review the details of your specific transaction.

Financing

Do you offer financing?

Yes. TowTally Camping works with multiple lenders specializing in RV and trailer financing.

Available programs depend on the type and age of the unit, amount financed, credit profile, loan term, and individual lender requirements.

Our team can help identify available lending programs that may fit the RV or trailer you are purchasing.

Is a down payment required?

That depends on the lender, unit being financed, and your credit profile.

Some financing programs may offer little or no money down for qualified buyers, while others require a down payment.

Can I finance through my own bank or credit union?

Yes. You are welcome to arrange financing through your own bank or credit union.

We are happy to provide the purchase information your lender needs to complete the transaction.

Do you offer in-house financing?

No. TowTally Camping does not offer in-house or buy-here-pay-here financing.

We work with established outside banks and finance companies to offer customers access to available financing programs.

Trade-Ins

Do you accept trade-ins?

Yes. We accept many types of RVs and trailers on trade, subject to inspection and market demand.

Depending on the transaction, we may consider travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, equipment trailers, cargo trailers, horse trailers, and other utility or recreational units.

How do you determine the value of my trade?

We consider the unit's year, make, model, condition, options, current market demand, comparable sales, and anticipated reconditioning.

A physical inspection may be required before a final trade value can be established.

Can I get an estimated trade value before visiting?

Yes. You can provide information and photos of your trade so we can prepare a preliminary estimate.

Final values are generally subject to an in-person inspection.

Do I have to buy something to sell you my RV or trailer?

Not necessarily. Depending on the unit and current market conditions, we may be interested in purchasing your RV or trailer even if you are not buying another unit from us.

Taxes, Registration & Documentation

What is the documentation processing fee?

The documentation processing fee covers administrative work involved in preparing and processing a vehicle sales transaction.

This includes purchase documents, lender paperwork, disclosures, titling information, and other transaction records.

Our California documentation processing fee is $85.

What is the electronic filing fee?

For transactions processed electronically through California DMV systems, a separate electronic filing fee may apply.

Our current electronic filing fee is $33.

Do you handle DMV registration?

For applicable California transactions, we can process the required registration and title paperwork.

Procedures can differ for certain trailers, commercial transactions, out-of-state buyers, and other special circumstances.

Do out-of-state customers pay California sales tax?

It depends on the circumstances of the sale, delivery location, and applicable tax laws.

Because tax and registration requirements vary, we review out-of-state transactions individually before completing the sale.

Service & Parts

Do you service RVs or trailers you did not sell?

Yes. Our service department works on many RVs and trailers regardless of where they were purchased.

Service availability depends on the unit, manufacturer, repair requirements, and availability of replacement parts.

Do you perform warranty repairs?

We perform warranty repairs for manufacturers and products that we are authorized to service.

Warranty coverage and approval are determined by the manufacturer or warranty provider. Prior authorization may be required before repairs begin.

Do you install hitches and brake controllers?

Yes. We sell and install towing equipment including weight-distribution hitches, brake controllers, wiring components, and related accessories.

Our team can help determine which equipment is appropriate for your vehicle and trailer.

Can you install accessories after I buy my trailer?

Yes. We install many aftermarket accessories and upgrades.

Depending on the unit, options may include batteries, solar panels, inverters, cameras, towing equipment, electrical upgrades, and other RV or trailer accessories.

Equipment, Cargo & Horse Trailers

Can you custom order a trailer?

Yes. Many of our trailer manufacturers offer custom-order options including sizes, colors, axles, ramps, sides, flooring, storage, winches, and other equipment.

Available options vary by manufacturer and model.

How long does a custom-order trailer take?

Build times vary depending on the manufacturer, model, selected options, factory production schedule, and transportation.

We provide the best available factory estimate when placing the order, but production and transportation dates can change.

Can a trailer be derated to a lower GVWR?

Some trailers can be ordered or certified at a lower gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), depending on the manufacturer and model.

If you have specific licensing, registration, or operating requirements, contact our team before placing your order so we can confirm the manufacturer's available options.

Do you sell commercial and work trailers?

Yes. In addition to RVs, TowTally Camping sells a broad selection of trailers for commercial, agricultural, recreational, and personal use.

Inventory may include equipment trailers, dump trailers, utility trailers, enclosed cargo trailers, car haulers, horse trailers, and specialty trailers.

Pickup & Delivery

Do you offer delivery?

Yes. Delivery may be available depending on your location, the type of RV or trailer, and scheduling.

Delivery charges generally depend on distance, transportation equipment required, and the unit being delivered.

What happens when I pick up my new RV?

When purchasing an RV, our team will review the unit with you and explain its major systems and features.

We want you to leave knowing how to operate your new RV rather than simply handing you the keys.

Should I bring my tow vehicle when picking up a trailer?

Whenever possible, yes.

Having your tow vehicle present allows us to check hitch height, electrical connections, brake controller operation, and other important towing considerations before you leave.

Can you help determine whether my vehicle can tow a trailer?

Yes. Our team can help compare a trailer's specifications with your vehicle's towing capabilities.

Important considerations include towing capacity, payload, hitch ratings, trailer weight, and tongue or pin weight.

Final towing capacity should always be verified using the specifications and ratings for your specific vehicle.
